Inspection date

Previous inspection date 4 August 2016 11 February 2016

p.1

The provision does not meet requirements

 The childminder has not provided information to Ofsted on all persons over the age of 16 years living in the premises, to enable appropriate suitability checks to be completed. This was raised at the last two inspections and shows a lack of understanding and regard for children's safety. Ofsted will now consider further enforcement action, which may include taking steps to cancel the registration.  Self-evaluation is ineffective. Although the childminder can discuss some strengths and areas to improve, she has not acted swiftly enough to address all welfare requirements notices from the last inspection and does not focus enough on identifying and making improvements to safeguard children.  Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of abuse which children may suffer is adequate. The childminder has an appropriate policy in place to follow with any concerns about children's safety.  The childminder shows a suitable understanding of how to assess children's learning

She understands how to plan for each child's individual needs and use their interests to plan for their next steps in development.  The home is safe and suitable for children. The childminder has an appropriate range of resources available for all ages of children, which she checks to ensure they are in suitable condition.  The childminder shows a suitable understanding of how to manage children's behaviour. She describes age-appropriate behaviour management strategies and shows an understanding of how to promote good behaviour.  The childminder demonstrates an appropriate understanding of how to work in partnership with parents. She discusses how she uses communication books to inform

them of their child's day and shares information with them about their child's learning and development. There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
