This provision is inadequate
Teaching is ineffective. The childminder does not demonstrate an adequate understanding of the different areas of learning and development and the requirements for assessment. Planning does not focus on challenging children and meeting their individual learning needs in all areas of learning. The childminder does not promote children's good behaviour. This affects the quality of their learning and also hinders their readiness for school. The childminder does not have a secure enough knowledge of the legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. She has failed to supply Ofsted with all the necessary information to check that all adults living at the home are suitable. This means children's safety is compromised. The childminder does not keep accurate records of children's attendance. The childminder is not committed to improving her practice and promoting the development and welfare of children.
p.1
It has the following strengths
The childminder provides a good range of resources for children to choose from. This helps develop their independence. The childminder promotes children's physical skills. Children have daily exercise and routinely walk to and from nursery and school.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector completed a joint observation with the childminder. The inspector spoke to the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as registers and suitability checks. The inspector read parents' feedback questionnaires and took account of their views.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is inadequate
The arrangements for safeguarding are ineffective. The childminder does not maintain accurate records of children's attendance. She has also failed to notify Ofsted of adults living on the premises. This means Ofsted has not been able to carry out required checks to ensure individuals living in the home are suitable. Children are not at risk as the childminder does have an understanding of how to keep them safe and who to report any concerns to. The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to improve her teaching practice. Consequently, children do not make good progress in their learning. The childminder does not keep a close check on children's development in all areas of learning. As a result, gaps in learning are not successfully identified so that additional support can be provided. The childminder has developed links with the local school and nursery. She regularly exchanges information about children with staff and parents, and this helps
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
The childminder does not possess an adequate understanding of the areas of learning. For example, she does not focus strongly enough on developing children's language. She introduces words during play but does not allow children the opportunity to try them out as she quickly moves them from one activity to another. Despite this, children have access to a range of resources which supports their interests. Children are developing mathematical skills. For example, older children sort cards into sets and then count the total number of cards in both groups. The childminder gathers information from parents about children's care needs and interests on entry to the setting. She uses this information to help settle children during their induction period. However, the childminder does not demonstrate a thorough understanding of the purpose of assessment and does not fully complete the progress check for children aged between two and three years. Additionally,
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is inadequate
she does not plan challenging next steps in learning to meet children's individual development needs. Consequently, children do not demonstrate good progress in their learning during their time in the setting.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are inadequate
Children are not learning how to behave well in the setting. This does not support children's emotional well-being. Children use inappropriate language and display aggressive behaviour towards the childminder. She does not set clear boundaries or use effective strategies to manage inappropriate behaviour. Children are destructive during games and show little concentration in tasks. Consequently, they are not developing good social skills and are not well prepared for the move on to school. The childminder implements care routines well and responds quickly to children's personal needs.
p.3
Outcomes for children are inadequate
Children do not make good progress from their starting points. They are not learning to behave well and are not adequately prepared for the next stage in their learning or for school.
