This provision is good
The childminder has greatly improved her understanding of how children learn and plans a range of interesting activities, which matches children's learning needs. All children make good progress from their starting points. Parents remark on how well the childminder offers a flexible service, for example, which supports their working hours. They comment on the exciting activities that she offers, such as cooking and exploring the local woods, which inspires them with ideas to extend their children's learning at home. The childminder encourages children's self-esteem; she helps them to understand their own and other people's feelings. She teaches children positive values and attitudes, such as good manners and acceptable ways to behave. The childminder makes good use of opportunities to develop and improve her professional knowledge and skills. For example, recent training has enhanced her understanding of outdoor play and extended her confidence in providing first aid in an

It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not always provide enough opportunities for children to explore their own interests fully and make independent choices. The childminder misses opportunities to expand on children's understanding of technology and its everyday use.

Inspection activities
The inspector observed children's play and learning during the inspection. The inspector sampled a range of documentation, including children's developmental records, the childminder's key policies and procedures, and self-evaluation. The inspector conducted a joint observation with the childminder and discussed the findings. The inspector took account of children's and parents' views through discussions during the inspection, and by sampling parent questionnaires and written feedback comments.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good
The childminder considers and values the views of parents and children when evaluating her service. She effectively uses their feedback to identify her strengths and to build on areas for development. There is a strong action plan and enthusiasm to carry improvements forward. For example, the childminder has made significant improvements in how she supports children's learning. Furthermore, there are strong partnerships in place with parents, including other professionals who work with children. The childminder's processes to monitor children's learning and to exchange information with others are strong. Her professional knowledge and skills are ambitious and moving forward continuously. Safeguarding is effective. The childminder is secure in her knowledge of following the correct safeguarding procedures to keep children safe.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good
The childminder effectively uses encouraging language and engages with children while they play. She encourages friendships and helps children learn about sharing and turn taking. The childminder provides many activities which support children's range of skills, such as holding a pencil, counting and recognising colours. She supports children's early communication and language skills well. For example, the childminder sings nursery rhymes with children, and is skilled at asking questions and encourages children's responses. There are opportunities to practise early writing and reading skills, such as through exploring a range of books, to encourage children's interest in written words. The childminder provides many experiences for children to play outdoors and practise their physical skills, such as walking, jumping, running and climbing.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good
The childminder provides healthy snacks and meals for children. She promotes sun safety; for example, on hot days she ensures there is plenty for children to drink to keep them hydrated. She encourages children to manage their personal care, such as hand washing and eating independently. The childminder effectively develops children's safety, while allowing them to take appropriate risks and challenges. For example, she ensures children wear high-visibility jackets while playing in the woods, and mostly encourages them to explore different obstacles and try new experiences. The childminder provides many experiences to help children learn about other people's faiths and cultures. For instance, children learn about a range of celebrations and try new foods.
p.3
Outcomes for children are good
Children are happy and make friends. They are learning to become confident individuals and gain new skills continuously. Children gain a strong foundation for learning in preparation for their next stage of education, including school.
