are highly stimulating and skilfully adapted to promote all children's learning. The childminder makes highly detailed assessments of children, which are accurate and precise. He pinpoints children's current stage of learning and monitors this consistently to ensure children progress well. Where assessments show any gaps in children's learning, further rigorous planning helps children to quickly catch up and gaps are closed. Children's independence is routinely promoted and embedded in everyday opportunities. Older children competently prepare themselves to go outside. They choose appropriate clothing for the weather. Inspection activities
The inspector observed the quality of teaching during activities indoors and outdoors and assessed the impact this has on children's learning. The inspector jointly evaluated an activity with the childminder. The inspector looked at relevant documentation, such as, the childminder's self- evaluation, children's learning and development records and a sample of the childminder's policies and procedures. The inspector spoke with the childminder and children at appropriate times during the inspection and took account of the written testimonials of parents. The inspector checked evidence of the suitability of the childminder and other household members and the childminder's qualifications.
p.2
Effectiveness of the leadership and management is outstanding
The childminder is highly qualified and demonstrates his unrelenting commitment to high- quality practice. He frequently reviews and evaluates his provision in minute detail. He develops weekly plans to identify improvements he can make. Central to this is his exceptional knowledge of the way children learn and his excellent understanding of his role as a practitioner to support children's learning. Training is highly focused on raising children's achievement through high-quality teaching and provision. The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The childminder has robust knowledge of safeguarding procedures to keep children safe from harm and follows up any concerns raised. The childminder is proactive in developing strategies to engage others to support children's learning. He has recently developed strong partnerships with other settings where children attend and has highlighted this is an area he would like to continue to develop.
p.3
Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is outstanding
The childminder demonstrates his talents in supporting children to play an active role and take control of their learning. He shows great perception in using children's self-chosen activities to extend their learning and make learning fun. Children jump on the hopscotch together. The childminder joins them and engages them in exploring number, counting forwards and backwards and identifying numbers. Children demonstrate exceptional vocabulary as they describe to the childminder the pterodactyl they have drawn. Younger children sit with their peers and join in action songs. They mouth the words as they begin to form words and sounds. Younger children relish in sensory play and explore with textures, showing their inquisitiveness as they bring them close to their face. Partnerships with parents fully support children's learning in the setting and at home. Parents are fully involved in children's learning and value the information they are given by the childminder.
p.3
Personal development, behaviour and welfare are outstanding
Children form emotionally secure relationships with the childminder. Younger children are confident to attempt new experiences and look to the childminder for reassurance as they have a go. The childminder is readily on hand, gently coaxing and encouraging. Children's behaviour is exemplary. They share, take turns and play alongside their peers with minimal intervention. Children learn to feel safe and secure with familiar routines. This helps them to recognise when they are tired and need to rest and when they are hungry. Children's good health is given the utmost importance. They benefit from healthy, home- cooked lunches, made from fresh ingredients. Children learn where fruit and vegetables come from and take part in opportunities for growing and planting. Children benefit from a wide range of daily outdoor experiences to support their physical well-being.
p.3
Outcomes for children are outstanding
Children make excellent progress and often exceed the level of development expected for their age. They readily engage and show inquisitiveness and concentration as they explore and investigate. Children enthusiastically accept and thrive on challenge. This prepares them exceptionally well for the next stage in their learning, such as school.
