This provision is good

 The childminder provides a wide range of interesting and stimulating activities. She uses the information that parents provide and her own observations to build an accurate assessment of children's development. This helps children make good progress.  The childminder provides a welcoming, friendly and well-organised environment. She forms strong, nurturing relationships with children, who behave well and are confident and self-assured. Her sensitive support effectively promotes their emotional well-being and sense of belonging.  The childminder prepares children well, socially and emotionally, for their next stage of learning. She forms very close links with nurseries and schools that children attend to support children's next move and to complement their learning.  The childminder effectively self-evaluates her provision. She uses feedback from parents and children to help her shape her provision further. She has taken decisive

action to address the previous actions raised. This supports her ongoing capacity for improvement.

p.1

It is not yet outstanding because:

 Children do not always have enough opportunity to learn about similarities and differences in their wider community.  Monitoring of children's learning identifies gaps, but does not yet identify where children are making slower rates of progress.

p.1

What the setting needs to do to improve further

To further improve the quality of the early years provision the provider should:

p.2

What the setting needs to do to improve further

 improve the procedure for monitoring children's progress to ensure that children make equally good progress in all areas of their learning  extend further the opportunities for children to learn about the similarities and differences of people and cultures in the wider community.

p.2

Inspection activities

 The inspector observed the childminder's practice with the children.  The inspector discussed the children's development with the childminder, after making a joint observation of their progress.  The inspector discussed with the childminder how she obtains the views of all the users of her provision and also discussed self-evaluation with her.  The inspector examined a selection of documentation.

p.2

Effectiveness of the leadership and management is good

Safeguarding is effective. The childminder has a good understanding of how to protect children in her care. She has accessed training around safeguarding and ensures that she has an up-to-date knowledge of procedures to follow. She implements a range of policies and procedures that keep children safe and promote their overall welfare. The childminder makes effective use of training and has clear ideas for future improvement. She carefully tracks children's progress and has started to identify and address any gaps.

p.3

Quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good

Children are confident, active learners who are motivated to explore and try things for themselves. The childminder interacts positively with children as she plays alongside them. She effectively promotes children's communication and language skills. She models language clearly and asks questions that lead and help children to think for themselves. The childminder keeps parents well-informed about their children's progress, which enables them to continue children's learning at home.

p.3

Personal development, behaviour and welfare are good

The childminder teaches children to be kind and considerate to each other. They use good manners and show respect for their environment as they care for the toys and resources by tidying them away after playing with them. The childminder helps children to become independent. They learn to put on their own shoes and fasten their coats. Children enjoy ample opportunities to play outdoors. They benefit from walks to the park and learn that being active is healthy. The childminder promotes children's understanding of staying safe as they learn to use equipment safely. Children benefit from a range of opportunities to socialise with others, both in the childminder's home and in their local community. Children follow good personal care routines in readiness for school.

p.3

Outcomes for children are good

The childminder provides engaging activities that encourage the children to explore and investigate. For example, they count how many frogs they can find hiding under the leaves in the nature tray. They learn to identify shapes and colours, and talk about size as they build tall towers. All children are making good progress, given their starting points. They achieve good outcomes in all areas of learning and are well-prepared for their future learning.
