The provision meets requirements
The childminder observes children regularly to assess their development. She uses what she knows about the children to identify areas that children need support with. She then plans appropriate activities to support the children's development. Assessments show that children are developing and achieving within the typical ranges for their age. The childminder has a clear understanding of her role in protecting the safety and welfare of children. She demonstrates sound knowledge of what might cause her to be concerned about a child and what she would do if an allegation was made about her behaviour. The childminder considers the quality of the service she offers. However, she does not celebrate what she does well when she is doing this. She uses questionnaires to find out from parents and children what they like about her service or how it might be improved. She has identified some relevant areas to develop.
p.1
The provision meets requirements
The childminder has started to track children's progress. She can describe how children have changed and developed. Her recording system does not yet show how well children are progressing across all the relevant areas of learning and development for their age. The childminder has a good range of suitable play equipment for children to use. She has good ideas to make learning interesting. For example, to help children to experience activities in the wider community she gives each child a shopping list so that they can search for their own shopping. Older children have the opportunity to pay, experience handling money and receive change. The childminder has well established systems to develop supportive relationships with parents. She gathers relevant and required information about the children so that she can meet their care and developmental needs. The childminder shares the children's learning journeys with parents, which they appreciate.
p.1
The provision meets requirements
There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
p.1
Inspection activities
The inspector viewed the premises and equipment used for childminding. The inspector saw the childminder's work with school children. The inspector took account of the views of children and parents seen in questionnaire responses. The inspector looked at children's records and a range of other documentation, including policies and procedures.
