This provision is good
The childminder has a very good understanding of children's individual needs. The children thrive due to the extremely strong bonds they develop, which promotes their emotionally well-being exceptionally well. Partnerships with parents are well established and make a strong contribution to meeting children's needs. Children are well motivated and keen to learn. The childminder's secure understanding of how children learn enables her to provide children with stimulating play experiences that help children make good progress in their learning. The childminder promotes children's early mathematical skills well, so children make progress in learning to count, recognising numbers and using mathematical language. The childminder safeguards children well. She organises the play environment to minimise hazards so that children can move around freely and safely in their play. The childminder has a good understanding of the requirements. She evaluates her

practice effectively to identify areas for improvements, which benefits children.
p.1
It is not yet outstanding because:
The childminder does not make the most of opportunities to encourage children to use writing tools in the everyday environment during their play to fully promote their early literacy skills. Children who are learning English as an additional language do not have many opportunities to hear, see or use their home language in the setting.

who attend. This is good
The childminder tailors activities to children's interests and encourages them to be involved in planning the play activities. Her positive interaction and good support helps children to be ready for the next stage in their learning. Children have easy access to a wide range of toys and resources that helps them to develop independence. Children are fascinated as they used their senses to explore the different resources, such as cardboard tubes. As they shook the tubes, the childminder questioned children skilfully and introduced mathematical language to extend their learning effectively. She encouraged the children to think what might be inside different tubes. This captured their imagination as they guessed, 'a car' and 'a ball', successfully developing their thinking skills. All children had fun joining in with the song and rhyme activity. They showed good control as they moved their bodies to the actions and enjoyed repeating familiar rhymes. This developed

children's understanding of sounds and rhythms. The childminder shares information about the children's achievements with parents regularly. This helps parents to support their children's learning and development at home.

outstanding
The childminder fosters an extremely strong sense of security and emotional well-being in children. She shows deep concern for the children's feelings, providing lots of reassurance, which helps them become confident and self-assured. Children behave well. They show consideration towards their friends and understand about taking turns and sharing. As a result, they play together happily. The childminder teaches children about the importance of healthy lifestyles and provides a consistently high standard of personal care for children. The children enjoyed making their own snacks, showing care and control as they used the tools to spread the sauce and chop vegetables for their pizzas. Children enjoy a broad range of outdoor play experiences, both in the childminder's garden and through local outings. These activities enable children to develop an understanding of risk, and combined with careful supervision, promote children's physical development effectively.
p.3
provision is good
The childminder keeps her safeguarding knowledge up to date through training, and understands the procedures to follow if she has a concern. She attends relevant training events to continue to develop her skills. This has helped her to offer children new ways to learn and monitor their progress. The childminder monitors her assistant's performance effectively to make sure that children enjoy good-quality care and learning opportunities during the day. She links closely with other early years settings that the children attend to ensure continuity for their learning and development. Parents comment positively about the childminder's provision and how she is caring and attentive to the children's needs.
