Text from letter to pupils explaining the findings of the inspection
Inspection of St Sebastian's Roman Catholic Primary School, Salford M6 6ET I visited your school recently to find out how well you are learning. Thank you for making me welcome and being helpful when I talked to you. I was lucky to have the opportunity to speak to some of you at greater length. I was pleased to listen to your varied reasons for enjoying things in school. I was impressed to hear of your success in football and netball competitions. I was a bit less impressed when some told me of their eating habits! Your school gives you a good education. You have good opportunities to develop your skills and talents. All this helps you to become more confident and develop well both personally and socially. I agree with you that the staff look after you well. They know each of you as individuals and work hard to ensure you all get along well with each other. You play your part in this by mixing well and showing respect for each other. Your teachers ensure that you learn many

Inspection of St Joseph the Worker RC Primary School, Salford, M44 6GX
We always leave schools with suggestions as to how they can improve. We have asked the staff to keep on finding ways to help you to improve your writing so that your attainment rises even further. We also think that more could be done to help you to understand how people in other communities live, both at home and abroad. We have also asked teachers in the Early Years Foundation Stage to plan more opportunities for Reception children to learn outside.

To help your school to improve further, I have asked your headteacher and the governing body to ensure that you are always given work that closely matches your ability and helps more of you reach the higher levels in all subjects. They will also make sure that all the leaders in the school are involved in checking that teaching, and the work in your books, is as good as it should be. Finally, they will use the information from your assessments to check very carefully that you are doing as well as you can.
- Willow Tree Primary School21 Sept 2011Good
2 Greenland Street, Salford, Lancashire, M6 5TJ
Inspection of Willow Tree Primary School, Salford, M6 5TJ
We have asked your school to do a few important things to improve. Some aspects are not quite as good as the others: mathematics and boys’ writing. These need to be improved to increase the number of you reaching Level 5. Also whilst we know you do many exciting things such as visiting the Lowry Centre, we feel that more needs to be done to plan your curriculum with more detail. This would widen your understanding of people from different cultures and backgrounds. You reported that you would like a suggestion box so that your ideas can be given - we have asked that your voice is given more value.

- Light Oaks Junior School4 Oct 2011Good
Lancaster Road, Salford, Greater Manchester, M6 8LU
Inspection of Light Oaks Junior School, Salford, M6 8LU
Light Oaks is a good school with good leaders and managers who take good care of you all and make sure you are safe. Your parents and carers are very pleased with the school. You are taught well, make good progress and reach standards above those expected for your age. It was very interesting to see you busily discussing your learning with different partners in your lessons. The curriculum provides lots of different experiences, for example, learning Spanish and playing musical instruments and visits out of school. We know you enjoy the clubs, such as the gardening and maths clubs, and the many sports activities.

Text from letter to pupils explaining the findings of the inspection
Inspection of St George's Church of England Primary School, Salford, M6 6SU Thank you for welcoming us to your school and being so polite and friendly. We enjoyed talking to you and hearing all of the things you like about your school. Your school gives you a satisfactory education. We were particularly impressed by your good behaviour and your keenness to do well in lessons. You show good awareness of the needs of others through your charity work and the way in which pupils new to the school are welcomed by you all. We found that your lessons are at least satisfactory. The staff work hard to help you enjoy your education by developing a good range of visits and extra activities in sport. We found that while children in the Nursery and Reception classes make good progress, those of you in Years 1 to 6 make satisfactory progress. However, because teaching is improving, the standard of your work is improving, particularly in English.
