02 July 2008 Dear Pupils Inspection of Forestdale Primary School,Croydon,CR0 9JE As you know I visited your school recently to find out how well you were doing. I really enjoyed my time with you. Thank you for being so friendly, polite and welcoming, especially those of you who gave up part of your lunchtime to talk to me. You and your parents told me that your school is good and I agree with you. First and foremost your behaviour is excellent. Well done! Everyone gets on well together and cares for each other. The adults work hard to make school a safe but also a fun place to be. The school is very good at making links with lots of different people from outside who then come in and add something extra to your education. You are making good progress in your work and the standards that you are achieving are rising, particularly in writing. Your headteacher has developed a system for tracking your achievements

16 June 2009 Dear Pupils Inspection of The Archbishop Lanfranc School,Croydon,CR9 3AS You will recall that inspectors visited your school and its Nursery recently. I would like to offer my thanks, on behalf of us all, for the way in which you welcomed us, and for your thoughtful, honest and very useful contributions to the inspection. We enjoyed meeting you, seeing the happy learning environment in the Nursery, and working with the staff in your school for two days. You are proud of your school and we could understand why as we got to know more about it. Yours is a school that is at least satisfactory in every aspect of its work, and it is good and outstanding in some very important ways. The teaching in the school is good. We also saw that you are extremely well cared for, and many of you made a special point of saying how appreciative you were of all that the staff do for you. These strengths support you to become the mature, happy and ambitious young people

We enjoyed coming to see your happy school. Thank you for being so helpful during our visit. Your school provides you with a good standard of education. These are the best things about your school. You enjoy school and make good progress. You are polite and friendly, and mostly listen carefully in lessons. It is good that older pupils help as play leaders and reading mates. You feel very safe at school, and well done for attending school regularly and keeping healthy. We agree with you when you say that teachers are very kind and look after you exceptionally well. The headteacher and other leaders know what needs to be done to make the school better. These are the things we have asked your school to do next to make it better. Help your teachers to always give you work that is just right for you and to make sure that you have the time to get on with your work. Make sure that you are given enough chance to use your writing, mathematics and

We enjoyed our discussions with you in meetings, in lessons and around the school. Archbishop Tenison's is an outstanding school. Standards are high across the school. You are very well cared for and links with the community are very good, not least because of the school's status as a specialist college for mathematics and computing. Your teachers teach you well and plan interesting lessons in subjects as varied as art, history and mathematics. Teachers are well aware of your capabilities. They use this information well in lessons and provide extra support and encouragement to help you after lessons. You attend well and behaviour in lessons is good, despite the accommodation, which is cramped. Many of you are enthusiastic about the wide range of activities available and take part in sports teams,

We were pleased to hear that you thought behaviour had improved and to see how keen you are to learn. Your parents and carers are also pleased you enjoy school and are safe there. Nevertheless, your progress is not yet fast enough for all of you to achieve as well as you should. Therefore, your school has been give a 'notice to improve' to help it get better. Here are some other important things about your school. You have all come together as one community in your new school and get on well. Trips and visits are helping to make learning more interesting. Adults track your progress carefully, but do not always use this information well enough in lessons to match work to your needs. Those of you in Year 6 make rapid progress, but progress varies widely in other year

03 November 2008 Dear Pupils Inspection of Red Gates School,Croydon,CR0 4RG I was so pleased to see how well you all do at school and thank you so much for the warm welcome! I can tell you that you go to an outstanding school and it is clear that you enjoy your lessons. All the staff work very hard to help you learn. The quality of teaching is outstanding and this helps you to become as independent as possible. I think your behaviour and attendance are excellent. You make outstanding progress and you told me just how much you enjoy learning and visiting other schools. Those exciting activities such as swimming and horse-riding, help you to stay fit and healthy. You have excellent relationships with the staff and each other. The school also helps your parents and carers so that they can help you at home too. I am asking your headteacher to do a couple of things to help the school be even better for you. One is look at ways in which you can have even more of a say in what happens at school.
