Social Responsibility and Community Cohesion

I wish to thank you for your hospitality and co-operation during my recent visit. I am particularly grateful to you and all your staff for the hard work involved in preparing for the visit and for giving up your time during the visit to meet me. Please pass on my thanks to all those concerned and your students in particular.

p.1

Social Responsibility and Community Cohesion

The visit provided much useful evidence for the further development of community cohesion. In particular:

p.1

Social Responsibility and Community Cohesion

 The English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) programme, with citizenship well integrated, learners actively engaged in community activities and clear and well-used progression routes  ‘East meets West’, the college-wide celebration of cultural diversity, is successful in creating and sustaining a culture of acceptance and tolerance for all  The very good involvement of learners in college life through a range of formal and informal councils, committees and societies  We also discussed the need to consider training staff in ‘community awareness’ and supporting them to facilitate discussions on potentially sensitive issues.

p.1

Social Responsibility and Community Cohesion

The published survey report will list the names of the contributing institutions in an appendix. Should we wish to cite specific aspects of the good practice observed on this visit in the form of a detailed case study, we will contact the college first. We will notify you of the date of publication of the survey report when it is confirmed and provide you with details of any other arrangements to disseminate the survey’s findings.
