Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders explain how staff share information with families during daily discussions. In addition, they state that they provide parents with newsletters where staff can share children's experiences in the club as well as changes to policies and procedures. Leaders discuss how they work with families from the start to gather extensive information about children's needs, and how this allows them to make careful adaptations to support children's safety. For example, snacks are prepared so that they consider any allergens that children may have.
p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders explain how staff support children to behave appropriately at the club. Staff mirror the school's behaviour expectations to provide a consistent approach. In addition, leaders discuss how children are involved in establishing club rules that promote respectful and safe behaviours. Leaders discuss how they support staff practice through formal supervision meetings and by providing staff with access to a wealth of online training opportunities. Leaders explain how they have oversight of this process to ensure that all statutory training is conducted within the required timescales.
p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders explain the processes that the club staff follow to ensure that the environment, routines and activities remain safe for staff and children. Staff complete daily risk assessments based on the ever-changing needs of children who attend. For example, leaders have introduced a radio system for staff to communicate with one another. This ensures that children remain in sight and hearing of staff at all times.
p.2
Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders discuss how they consider the needs of children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities when organising the play environment. For example, the club has a quiet area where children can relax and regulate their emotions after a busy day at school.
