p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders strive to provide an environment that is highly inclusive and welcoming. They discuss the importance of providing quality experiences and ensuring that all children's interests are valued. Leaders have established effective systems to monitor the standard of care provided at the out-of-school club. For example, senior leaders carry out session observations and use feedback from staff and children to continually drive improvement.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Staff have access to purposeful professional development. Leaders provide them with ongoing coaching to support them to develop their skills. For example, leaders support staff to understand how to use different strategies to enhance children's emotional wellbeing during their time attending the out-of-school club. Leaders provide staff with ongoing supervision sessions to regularly monitor staff wellbeing and workload. They also use these sessions as an opportunity to share feedback and discuss best practice or areas of development. These arrangements support staff to reflect on their practice and maintain consistent standards of care.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders and staff work closely with the school to implement a shared approach to children's care. For example, they work with teachers to understand how behaviour and reward systems work in the classroom and the different school rules. This means that staff can provide a similar approach at the out-of-school club to support children to understand what is expected of them.

p.2

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders have developed effective methods of communication with parents. For example, before children first attend, leaders acquire information about children. This means that staff can continually work with parents to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and ensure that any adaptations are in place right from the start. These arrangements help staff identify children's individual needs and plan appropriate adaptations to support their participation.

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.3

About this inspection

There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
