Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1156098 1 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is owned and operated by a private company. It provides care for up to 3 children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The manager registered with Ofsted in August 2023.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

At the time of the inspection, there were 2 children living in the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At a full inspection on 21 and 22 July 2026, the home was judged as inadequate. Compliance notices relating to Regulation 12 (the protection of children standard) and Regulation 13 (the leadership and management standard) were issued.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The purpose of this visit was to monitor the action taken to meet the steps in the compliance notices.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Since the last inspection, the same 2 children remain living in the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There has been a significant improvement in the home environment. Leaders and managers have taken appropriate action to ensure that maintenance issues have been addressed, that the home is free from hazards, and that all areas of the home are clean.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Action is not always taken to safeguard children. On one occasion, the manager did not direct staff to undertake an immediate welfare check despite concerns regarding a child’s emotional wellbeing. This information had been shared by the child’s social worker, including that the child has expressed concerns regarding their emotional wellbeing when out of the home. A request had been made for staff to undertake a Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1156098 2 visual check. However, the manager did not share this information with the staff. As a result, no visual checks were undertaken to ensure that the child was safe.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have reviewed and updated children’s risk assessments. However, these assessments did not include up-to-date or accurate information in respect of children’s risks. This means that staff did not have access to clear guidance and strategies to safeguard children effectively.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have benefited from additional safeguarding training and reflective sessions that have been led by the clinical lead following safeguarding incidents. Staff spoken with were able to clearly identify the learning they had gained from these reflective sessions and how this has informed their practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff ensure that information is shared with relevant professionals following safeguarding incidents.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Debriefs and direct work are undertaken with children following safeguarding incidents to help them understand risks and keep themselves safe. Online resources are used effectively to support children’s learning and development.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have implemented new systems to review and monitor the quality of care and staff practice in the home. Management oversight has improved in some areas, and where shortfalls in staff practice were identified, appropriate action was taken to address them. However, leaders and managers did not identify that staff had failed to record a safeguarding incident appropriately, resulting in a missed opportunity to reflect on the incident and ensure that staff responded appropriately.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A case review was held on 11 September 2026. It was deemed that not all steps in the compliance notices have been met. The decision was made to issue further compliance notices relating to Regulations 12 and 13.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The other requirements raised at the last full inspection have not been considered during this visit. They remain in place and will be reviewed. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1156098 3
