Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): 2781409 Registered with Ofsted: 02/07/2024 Registers: EYR, CCR, VCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder is aware of the requirement to complete a progress check for every child in her care between the age of 2- and 3-years-old. However, she does not understand its importance, why it is completed and who this should be shared with, to support early identification of any additional help that the child may need. She has a poor understanding of the additional funding available for disadvantaged children and how this can be used to promote children's learning and development to help close any gaps in their learning. This reduces the childminder's capacity to provide additional help and support to children and ensure they make the best start to their learning and development.

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

Through discussion, the childminder effectively demonstrates that she has the knowledge, skills and understanding of her role and responsibilities to ensure compliance with most of the requirements of the early years foundation stage. The childminder demonstrates she understands her responsibilities to keep children safe and protect them from harm. This includes supporting children's safety, wellbeing and individual needs. She demonstrates her understanding of providing a planned curriculum to support all children's ages and stages of learning. This includes children with special educational needs and/or disabilities or those with barriers to their learning. Overall, the childminder understands how to identify any gaps in learning though observations and informal assessment. This ensures she can support children to make positive progress.

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder understands the importance of working in partnership with parents and other professionals from specialist agencies. She explains how she would keep parents updated on their children's progress and next steps, including ways to continue children's learning at home. The childminder continues to build on her skills and knowledge through regular training courses. She receives regular updates on any changes to legislation, such as safer sleeping, which enable her to target her professional development.

The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment and any relevant documentation.
