Deep dive

What this report says

In plain English

critical

Ofsted found serious welfare failings at the nursery, which took effective action after a monitoring visit found the required improvements had been made.

Following concerns about security, staffing, behaviour management and support for children, Ofsted inspected the nursery in September 2026 and found it was not meeting some legal requirements, so a welfare requirements notice was issued. At a monitoring visit in October 2026, inspectors found the nursery had taken appropriate action on all the actions raised. The nursery remains registered with Ofsted.

Going well

  • Provider took appropriate action to address all actions raised at inspection
  • Security and safeguarding arrangements were strengthened
  • Leadership cover was established in the manager's absence
  • Staff deployment and support for children with additional needs improved

To improve

  • Ensure risk assessments are robust, reviewed and implemented, including biometric entry risks
  • Ensure all entry points are controlled and visitors' identities checked before entry
  • Ensure staff are deployed effectively to supervise children and meet their needs
  • Ensure effective induction, training, supervision and early identification of special educational needs

What parents should know

  • The nursery was found not to meet some legal requirements at inspection, so ask how security and visitor checks now work.
  • Inspectors found action had been taken, so ask how staffing cover and named deputy arrangements operate day to day.
  • Ask how your child's key person and behaviour support plans are working, as these were areas needing improvement.
  • Inspectors said the provider still has areas needing continued improvement, so ask what these are and how they are being addressed.

What other providers can learn

  • Check that biometric and other entry systems are included in security risk assessments and reviewed regularly.
  • Make sure a named deputy is qualified and able to take charge in the manager's absence.
  • Review staff deployment, key-person arrangements and supervision so that children's individual needs are met.

Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage, which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
