p.1
Information about this residential family centre
This manager registered with Ofsted in August 2020.
p.1
Inspection date: 7 September 2026
Date of previous inspection: 22 and 23 July 2026
p.1
This monitoring visit
During a full inspection on 22 and 23 July 2026, inspectors found significant regulatory breaches that compromised the safety and wellbeing of children. The home was judged ‘inadequate’.
p.1
This monitoring visit
In response, Ofsted issued 2 compliance notices under Regulation 12, arrangements for the protection of children, and Regulation 23, review of quality of care.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A temporary change in the condition of registration was applied, reducing the number of families from 4 to 2. The provider implemented an action plan to address the identified shortfalls, which was reviewed at the monitoring visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This visit was carried out to monitor the effectiveness of the action taken by the provider to address the compliance notices and improve the experiences and safety of families. Leaders and managers have taken on board the concerns and shortfalls identified at the last full inspection with a sense of purpose. Inspection report for residential family centre - monitoring visit: Chrysalis Assessment and Support Centre 2 Leaders and managers have acknowledged the shortfalls in auditing processes and oversight. In response, the manager has developed tools and systems to evaluate and reflect on staff practice and now has a more visible presence in the day-to-day activities of the centre. These improvements should strengthen monitoring arrangements and demonstrate progress in ensuring that the quality of care and safeguarding practice are routinely reviewed.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The responsible individual has reviewed all safeguarding incidents dating back to the previous full inspection in 2023 and has used this review to identify patterns, themes and learning. There is evidence that this learning has been shared with all staff through training, supervision and team meetings.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff show a better understanding of how to respond to safeguarding and child protection concerns, and management oversight is more effective. This does, however, need embedding into practice when new families reside at the centre.
p.2
This monitoring visit
A review of risk assessments has provided greater clarity in understanding the individual needs, vulnerabilities and risks of each parent and how these may impact on their child. Of the 2 families that remained at the centre following the full inspection, their risk assessments were updated and strategies to mitigate risk were clear. This improved responsiveness and supports safer practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have recognised that the recruitment of staff is a priority before accommodating more than 2 families at any one time. It provides reassurance and an understanding of safe staffing levels to ensure that the centre can facilitate quality assessments without compromising the safety and wellbeing of children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements made at the last full inspection will continue to be progressed and will be reviewed at the next inspection. Inspection report for residential family centre - monitoring visit: Chrysalis Assessment and Support Centre 3
