Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders have established clear policies and procedures to help staff provide a safe, welcoming environment where children can enjoy their time at the club. They explain the importance of getting to know children well. They assign named key persons to support the individual needs of early years children. Leaders discuss the secure working relationships they have formed with staff and specialists at the host school. This regular two-way communication helps staff respond consistently to children's wellbeing, including the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, when present. Staff also speak with parents and carers of early years children each day to share information about their care, health and wellbeing. They ensure children have a variety of healthy snacks that meet their medical and dietary needs. Leaders explain how staff supervise children throughout the day to ensure they keep them

safe. For instance, staff use walkie-talkies to communicate. This ensures children consistently play, explore or rest safely in all environments. Staff across their other sites support one another and share ideas, such as for sports and other activities. Leaders carry out regular monitoring visits and provide coaching and support to help staff fulfil their roles. They offer staff many professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge. For example, staff describe how training, such as supporting children with autism, will help them provide targeted support when needed.

About this inspection
We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.
p.3
About this inspection
There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas. This data was available to the inspector at the time of the inspection.
