p.1
This monitoring visit
Following an assurance inspection on 6 July 2026, serious and widespread concerns were identified in the home. As a result, 2 compliance notices were issued in relation to regulation 12 and regulation 13. Due to significant shortfalls, Ofsted also issued a restriction of accommodation notice to prevent further children from being admitted to the home. This monitoring visit was undertaken to review the restriction of accommodation and whether the provider has met the actions within the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At the time of the inspection, no children were living at the home. Damage to the home has now been repaired and the home is well maintained.
p.1
This monitoring visit
When one child was missing from home, staff shared information promptly with professionals and family members, and attempts were regularly made to contact the child by phone and text. The expectations of staff to physically look for children when they are missing is now contained in care plans to ensure that all attempts to find children are made. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2843441 2 Risk assessments for children who lived at the home now include strategies on how to support children when they are unsafe. Staff completed visual checks of children at the frequency detailed in their care plans. Staff have taken action to remove items of risk from one child and completed a room search appropriately when they identified that they may have items that could cause them harm.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received refresher training on how to safely hold children. The manager has completed additional competency assessments, including scenarios, to ensure that staff understand the actions they must take to care for children and keep them safe. Findings from these have been shared with staff in supervision, and further training is planned for staff who need additional support.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has shared findings of the previous inspection with staff during team meetings. Staff have created an ‘easy guide’ of practical strategies to connect with children to support them to develop meaningful relationships.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has introduced a checklist for her to review staff’s daily logs and safeguarding practice, increasing her review of the care of children. Monthly learning is being collected by the manager, which is shared with staff. Checks are in place to ensure there are sufficient staff each day and the manager is actively recruiting staff to provide continuity of care to children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has reflected on the admissions processes for children who have previously lived in the home. She recognises that all risks need to be fully explored to ensure that staff can meet children’s needs, so that children receive stable and consistent care. The manager intends to involve staff in considering new admissions, to strengthen this process.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has been supported by the proposed responsible individual, and the director has been present at the home and has offered support during this period. The manager is reflective with regard to areas for development in her own practice and is taking steps to strengthen her own skills. She is committed to improving the quality of care for children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has adhered to the restriction, and no children have moved in since the restriction of accommodation notice was issued. Management oversight in the home has improved since the last inspection. Staff feel supported by the manager, and she has begun to implement processes to gain a clearer understanding of practice in the home and to support staff to develop.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Overall, the home has made sufficient progress in addressing the compliance notices issued under regulations 12 and 13. Although some systems require further embedding, the steps taken to date are appropriate and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing improvement. As a result, the compliance notices are now considered to be met. The restriction of accommodation notice has been lifted.
