Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483856 1 SC483856 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited
p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is owned and operated by a private provider. It provides care for up to 5 children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home’s registration is currently suspended by Ofsted. Consequently, there were no children living at the home at the time of the visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At the full inspection on 26 and 27 May 2026, the home was judged as inadequate. Ofsted took immediate action to suspend the registration of the children’s home, under section 14A of the Care Standards Act.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to monitor the action taken to meet the steps in the suspension notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager remains suspended. A new manager has been recruited who has experience of residential care. However, the new manager has not applied to register with Ofsted. The responsible individual has resigned from their role, and an interim responsible individual has been identified for a short period of time. The leadership and management arrangements do not provide stability in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have not ensured that previous safeguarding incidents have been thoroughly reviewed. During the inspection, the local authority designated officer was required to send an update on their decision. This did not offer reassurance that safeguarding processes were followed.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Furthermore, leaders have not updated Ofsted about serious incidents, which has resulted in a member of staff being dismissed. Leaders have not taken action to ensure concerns have been shared with other external safeguarding professionals. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483856 2 Leaders have carried out a review of staff skills. They have identified gaps in experience and training and put in place steps to address these. Team meetings and reflective sessions have taken place to improve staff practice and is being embedded.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received reflective supervision. However, a deputy manager has not had individual supervision since before the home’s last inspection. This does not ensure that all staff have a forum to strengthen and reflect on their practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The home’s statement of purpose has been updated but does not include staff who will be returning to the home. Staff have moved to other homes while the home remains suspended. This does not offer reassurance that the current staffing arrangements are effective.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The home has been redecorated and is a welcoming environment.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The managers produce quality of care review reports. These reflect on the home’s ongoing improvement work.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following this monitoring visit, a case review took place on 7 August 2026. It is Ofsted’s view that it is unsafe to admit any children to the home while there are ongoing safeguarding concerns, and ineffective leadership and poor management oversight continue. If children were admitted to the home, the risks would be exacerbated. As a result, Ofsted has re-issued a further notice of suspension.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Ofsted will carry out further visits to the home to monitor the suspension notice and the provider’s response to addressing the serious shortfalls identified at this monitoring visit.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Not all of the requirements raised at the full inspection were reviewed during this visit. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC483856 3
