The home and manager registered with Ofsted in December 2025. At the time of the monitoring visit, the registered manager was away from the home.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There were no children living at the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At the full inspection on 12 May 2026, the inspector found the home to be inadequate. Failures in safeguarding, leadership and the management of the home affected the safety and wellbeing of children. In response, Ofsted issued compliance notices under Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard and Regulation 14, the care planning standard. A restriction of accommodation was also issued, preventing the provider from admitting any new children to the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit was carried out to review the actions taken by the provider to meet the steps in the compliance notices and review whether they had adhered to the restriction of accommodation. The inspector found that the steps in the compliance notices have been met. The restriction of accommodation has been lifted. Actions have been taken to improve arrangements for safeguarding children and the safer recruitment of staff. As a result, requirements raised at the last inspection in relation to Regulation 12, the protection of children standard and regulation 32, Fitness of workers have also been met. The remaining requirements made at the last inspection were not reviewed and have been restated.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider has adhered to the restriction, and no children have been admitted to the home. There is a new acting manager and deputy manager in post who have improved systems in the home to ensure that there are appropriate levels of management oversight and support for the staff and their practice. A monthly Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2850786 2 auditing tool has been devised alongside more thorough management oversight of children’s records.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider has recruited a new independent person to complete external monitoring of care and safeguarding practice and the leadership and management of the home. Additionally, an external quality-assurance consultant has been brought in to provide an additional layer of scrutiny, alongside offering guidance and support to managers.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Managers and staff have participated in detailed reflective and lessons-learned sessions. Open discussions have taken place whereby staff have shared their views about the previously agreed childcare practices. Staff have also reflected about the support they received. Clear actions and recommendations have been made to improve practice and the quality of care for children. Staff have embraced being part of positive changes made by leaders and managers, and there is a mutual acceptance that practice and outcomes for children needed to improve.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The admissions process has been reviewed and improved. The process considers all relevant information needed more broadly before managers decide about staff’s ability to meet a child’s needs and agree to admit a child to the home. The assessment process to assess a child’s suitability is more thorough and has been updated to include an evaluation of staff’s skills and ability to meet a child’s needs. Staff will also contribute their views to the assessment.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have benefited from additional training and support to develop their confidence and skills ahead of children moving into the home. All staff have now completed an induction and are subject to reviewable personal development plans. Additionally, staff have participated in creative case-scenario exercises to share knowledge and practice and have had increased training on how to escalate safeguarding concerns and challenge professional practice. Staff said that they feel more confident in their roles.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Safer recruitment processes have been improved to ensure that all staff have the appropriate checks and verifications in place before working with children. Where gaps were identified, these have been rectified, and plans have been put in place to ensure that this process is more robust going forward.
