Since the last inspection, there have been changes to the home’s management and leadership arrangements. The consistent and increased presence and oversight have enabled senior leaders to monitor practice more effectively. This has resulted in action where improvement is needed.

One child expressed concerns about the care they were provided. Leaders have listened to the child and explored their concerns. When children are missing from home, staff are following the children’s individual missing from home plans. Risk assessments for all the children have been updated and reviewed by leaders. This ensures that the children’s changing risks and needs are understood by staff and that staff have clear guidance to inform their practice to help safeguard children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff respond appropriately to reduce the immediate risk to keep children safe. When children harm themselves, they are offered external specialist support to address their emotional wellbeing. When room searches have taken place to safeguard a child, the reason for this is explained to children in an age-appropriate and child-friendly manner. This helps children understand that the actions that staff take are to help keep them safe.
p.2
This monitoring visit
When a complaint is made, senior leaders thoroughly investigate. Appropriate safeguarding professionals are informed, and the correct safeguarding procedures are followed. Leaders have identified shortfalls in staff practice and have started to implement clearer guidance for staff to follow. As a result, there has been an increase in the quality of care provided to children.
