p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is operated by a private provider. It offers care for up to 3 children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

At the time of this visit no children were living in the home.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There has been no registered manager since June 2026.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit was carried out to review the provider’s progress following serious safeguarding and leadership concerns identified at the previous inspection. The visit considered the actions taken by the provider to improve safeguarding practice, management oversight, staff culture, recruitment and training.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The responsible individual has reflected on the significant weaknesses that contributed to the previous concerns and has made substantial changes to monitoring arrangements. They have described how they have strengthened oversight, introduced additional quality assurance processes and established clearer accountability.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Work has been carried out to improve the culture in the home. Staff have received additional training focused on safeguarding, incidents of children going missing from home, physical intervention, trauma-informed practice and recording. Training now uses real incidents and scenario-based learning to help staff reflect on practice and improve their understanding of children’s experiences. Leaders have introduced clear expectations for professional practice and have established more consistent routines and boundaries for staff. These changes are helping to develop a more reflective and child-centred culture. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2780238 2 The responsible individual has taken appropriate action in response to safeguarding concerns about members of staff. Allegations have been investigated through the appropriate processes, relevant agencies have been informed, and disciplinary

This monitoring visit

actions have been taken where necessary. Most investigations have now concluded.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leadership arrangements in the home are not yet fully stable. A permanent manager has been recruited but has not yet taken up the post. In the meantime, the acting manager remains in place on a temporary basis, with no confirmed timescale for this arrangement. In addition, there are plans for a change in the responsible individual. As a result, permanent leadership and management arrangements are not yet established, which may affect the home’s ability to sustain and embed the improvements made to date.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Recruitment of staff is also ongoing, and there are currently insufficient staff in post to care for 3 children without additional support. However, leaders are taking appropriate steps to address this shortfall and have recruited additional bank staff to improve consistency of care and reduce reliance on unfamiliar agency workers. This is helping to provide greater stability for children while substantive staffing arrangements are strengthened.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Although significant progress has been made since the last inspection, leaders and managers recognise that further work is required to fully embed improvements and ensure that they are sustained over time. While positive changes have been implemented across the home, these are not yet consistently established in practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The requirement in relation to Regulation 40 raised at the previous inspection was not reviewed during this visit and has therefore been restated. In addition, previous requirements relating to Regulations 20, 14, 46 and 33 remain in place. Four recommendations have also been restated, reflecting that further work is required to address identified shortfalls and ensure that improvements are fully embedded and sustained over time.
