Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders demonstrate a secure understanding of their responsibilities and have appropriate systems in place to oversee the provision. They understand the particular needs of families accessing the holiday club and adapt their approach accordingly. For example, leaders have introduced flexible attendance arrangements and increased staffing, where they identify that children may need additional support. They are also developing opportunities, including access to swimming, to broaden the experiences available to children and families. Leaders understand the importance of working with the local community and have established links with schools, the local authority and the food bank to support children and families.
p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders understand the importance of effective partnerships with parents and carers. They recognise that gathering information from families helps staff understand children's individual needs, circumstances and the strategies that support them. This enables leaders to provide an inclusive approach that responds to individual needs.
p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders understand their roles and responsibilities and have developed policies and procedures that support children's welfare and wellbeing. They prioritise safer eating and paediatric first-aid training to ensure staff understand how to keep children safe during everyday routines. Leaders have appropriate systems for understanding children's health needs, including allergies and dietary requirements, and for the safe administration of medication. Staff complete relevant training and receive regular updates, alongside opportunities to shadow experienced colleagues, and receive coaching and feedback. This develops their knowledge and expertise and helps them understand their individual roles and responsibilities. Leaders are mindful of staff wellbeing and the demands of working long days during holiday periods. They provide supervision and check in with staff about any support they may need.
