At the time of the inspection, 2 children were living at the home. Neither child was spoken to during this visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 3 and 4 June 2026. Three compliance notices were served under regulation 12, The protection of children standard; regulation 13, The leadership and management standard; and regulation 26, Fitness of registered provider. The provider had been issued with a notice restricting the admission of additional children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A manager has been appointed to the home. The manager is currently in the induction process and not yet based at the home. This inspection was supported by a director, the responsible individual and the deputy manager.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Children’s risk management plans have been reviewed and contain all known risks. These are stored electronically and are available to all staff. Records contain descriptions of children’s individual risks and behaviours, together with strategies for staff to support children. Plans were up to date and indicated that risks were evaluated and that appropriate risk level indicators have been applied. Other children’s plans relevant to understanding their care needs have been updated and made clearer for staff to understand. These now include aspects relating to court directed orders, time spent with their families and how their time spent together in and out of the home can be managed safely. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2522796 2 Systems have been improved, which allow for clearer recording and oversight of incidents. Staff and managers have received training to better understand how to

use electronic recording systems so that it captures the ‘golden thread’, allowing easy access to all matters relating to children’s care.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Additional learning and refresher training has been provided to staff. This has improved their understanding of matters relating to keeping children safe, responding to allegations and supporting children when incidents occur. Learning had been validated by managers and leaders, who were confident in the staff’s abilities. The implementation of these has not been fully tested at this inspection as there had been an insufficient number of incidents or allegations since the learning had been delivered and new processes had been introduced. The responsible individual and deputy manager identified a significant improvement in the levels and quality of communication among staff and between managers.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Steps have been taken to ensure that children’s information is restricted to only those who need to access it. Non-care personnel have also received learning in relation to keeping children safe. Risk assessments are now in place for any member of staff that needs to be supervised while working around children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has undertaken a reflective review of incidents, which has identified some strengths and weaknesses in management oversight. The report acknowledged aspects of care that had become task focused rather than reflective and therapeutic. The review has recommended several actions to improve the quality of care, which have been implemented.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The requirements and recommendations made at the last inspection, which are not subject to compliance notices, were not considered at this monitoring visit and will be reviewed at the next inspection. They have been restated in this report.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following this visit, a case review was held which determined that the provider had met the steps in the 3 compliance notices. The notice that restricted the admission of additional children ended on 1 July 2026. No further period of restriction has been imposed.
