Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders explain they are highly committed to supporting families and children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). They describe how they would support young children's healthy lifestyles. For example, they would ensure children have an opportunity to try a variety of food from around the world and support families with establishing healthy bedtime routines. Leaders describe how they would work very closely with children's school settings to ensure children smoothly transition into the club. They describe how they will support all staff to know and understand the needs of children before they attend so that bespoke activities can be planned to support the children. Leaders have organised the setting to ensure that young children would have suitable hygiene and personal care facilities available. Leaders have a comprehensive understanding of safeguarding and are attuned to the vulnerabilities of young children with SEND. Leaders demonstrate how they would ensure

staff know children's preferred communication methods, such as using sign language, so that all children's communication skills are recognised and responded to. Leaders clearly explain how they would develop the communication skills of young children if they attended by simplifying instructions and modelling language. For instance, they talk about building their understanding by repeating and emphasising key words. Leaders demonstrate a clear understanding of effective behaviour strategies that can be used to support young children with SEND.

About this inspection
We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.
p.3
About this inspection
There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors evaluate and grade only leadership and governance, as there is no reliable evidence from other evaluation areas through which to assess the impact on children.
