Childminder

Unique reference number (URN): EY484513 Registered with Ofsted: 26/01/2015 Registers: EYR, CCR, VCR

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

The childminder demonstrates an effective understanding of how to operate a childminding provision in which children are cared for in a safe, welcoming environment. She demonstrates a secure understanding of the early years foundation stage, safeguarding responsibilities and her role in promoting children's learning and development. She maintains positive relationships with the local authority, and accesses regular professional development. The childminder understands how to work effectively with other agencies to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities when required and reflects on her own practice. She understands statutory safeguarding procedures, safer recruitment requirements and the importance of working in partnership with parents.

p.1

Leadership and governance Needs attention

However, the childminder has failed to meet statutory record-keeping requirements. She understands the purpose of maintaining attendance registers and children's records and does so for some children. However, record keeping is not consistent, and she has not retained attendance records or contracts for all the children in her care for the required time. This is a breach of the requirements. The childminder understands that these records are important for safeguarding purposes and accepted that they are not available. There is no evidence that this breach has resulted in an immediate risk to children currently attending the provision or that safeguarding practice is ineffective. Nevertheless, the childminder not ensured full compliance with statutory requirements. Consequently, the childminder has not ensured her provision meets the expected standard.

About this inspection

The inspector spoke with the childminder during the inspection.

p.3

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.3

About this inspection

There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
