At the time of this visit, no children were living at the home.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The manager registered with Ofsted in September 2023. The manager was absent at the time of the inspection. The inspection was supported by senior leaders.

p.1

This monitoring visit

During a full inspection on 28 and 29 April 2026, the inspector found significant regulatory breaches that directly affected the safety and wellbeing of children. The home was judged ‘inadequate’.

p.1

This monitoring visit

In response, Ofsted issued 2 compliance notices under Regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and Regulation 13, the leadership and management standard. A notice restricting accommodation at the setting was also issued. The provider immediately implemented an action plan to address the identified shortfalls.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A monitoring visit was carried out on 17 June 2026 and this found ongoing concerns in practice. The compliance notices were reissued, and the restriction of accommodation remained in place.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit was carried out to monitor the effectiveness of the action taken by the provider to address the compliance notices and improve the experiences and progress of children. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2539587 2 Leaders and managers have used the skills and knowledge of other professionals within the organisation to provide new and focused learning for staff. Staff have updated and developed their knowledge about risk assessments, safeguarding and children’s care plans to ensure that they meet the children’s needs effectively.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Staff receive regular supervision. Managers use these sessions to check and reinforce staff’s understanding of the training that they have completed. Staff are redeployed to work in the provider’s other homes, and their learning is reflected and evident in their practice and care for children.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers are working with a specialised health and safety contractor to deal with an infestation of rats. Following a series of treatments, the kitchen and living room were reopened and accessible. However, the rats have accessed and infested other areas of the home. No children are currently living in the home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Scheduled maintenance work has been carried out and locks on internal doors have now been removed. This allows children to freely access communal areas of the home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have completed audits. These systems have supported the identification of work that is required and this is completed in a timely manner. Leaders and managers have not updated the home’s statement of purpose to ensure that this accurately reflects the operation of the home.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The restriction of accommodation has lapsed now. Because the issue with the rat infestation will take time to resolve, Ofsted is seeking to impose a 3-month condition, which will require the provider to inform the regulator of their intention to reopen the home and Ofsted will conduct a monitoring visit in advance of this. The provider is in agreement with this approach. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2539587 3
