The home registered with Ofsted in January 2026 and is owned by a private company. It provides care for up to 3 children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
At the time of the visit, no children were living in the home.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
A manager has been appointed, who has applied to register with Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At a full inspection on 9 June 2026, the home was judged as inadequate. Compliance notices were issued relating to Regulation 12 (the protection of children standard), Regulation 13 (the leadership and management standard) and Regulation 14 (the care planning standard).
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to monitor the action taken to meet the steps required in the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
No children have moved into the home since the last inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has not taken appropriate action to manage an allegation made by a child who previously lived in the home. An updated referral was made to the local authority designated officer after the last inspection, but this did not contain all known information. This does not ensure that safeguarding professionals can make informed decisions. The manager addressed this during the inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has revised their internal procedures to ensure that clearer information is shared with staff. There has been reflection and learning. Updated systems are now in place; however, they are not yet embedded into practice. The home’s Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2833484 2 substance misuse procedure was not clear as it had been included in the injuries and accidents policy. This does not ensure that staff are provided with clear procedures to help support children when there are substance misuse concerns.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Care planning has been strengthened. The manager has carried out a review of what information would be required to make an informed decision regarding new children moving into the home. New processes are now in place to ensure that children will only move into the home if the manager is confident that the staff have the skills, knowledge and understanding to meet their needs.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Risk management plans have been reviewed. This has given the manager and staff the opportunity to strengthen risk assessments for when new children move into the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff, including the manager, have received additional training from an external company to help develop their understanding of safeguarding. The manager has carried out sessions with staff in relation to professional curiosity, and the local authority designated officer has visited the home to educate staff on their role and responsibilities.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Direct work has been reviewed. The manager has shared additional guidance and clear expectations with staff on how to strengthen meaningful conversations. This will ensure that important conversations are prioritised to help educate children on risks.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have reviewed their internal and external monitoring systems and reflected on their practice. There is also a new independent visitor. Positive changes have been made to help improve their oversight of practice in the home. A consultant has carried out a review and shared advice to help strengthen the manager’s and staff’s knowledge. This will help to ensure that there is continuous improvement in the quality of care provided to children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Plans are in place to recruit a new responsible individual.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The other requirements raised at the last full inspection have not been considered as part of this visit. They remain in place and will be reviewed at the next inspection.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following the visit, a case review was held on 17 July 2026. It was deemed that sufficient action has been taken to meet the compliance notices. The decision was made to issue an additional requirement under Regulation 12. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2833484 3
