p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Through discussions, the childminder demonstrates that they are meeting the early years foundation stage statutory requirements and they have an understanding of the setting's strengths and areas they need to develop. The childminder has put plans in place to drive improvement since their last inspection. They complete training to update their knowledge and skills and demonstrate an understanding of how to put this knowledge into practice. The childminder demonstrates how she supports assistants in their professional development, to help them to have the knowledge and skills for their roles. They have regular opportunities for professional development, including supervisions and daily feedback. The childminder supports her assistants to manage their workloads. She discusses how they share key- person responsibilities and work together to observe and monitor children's development.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder demonstrates how she has has recently developed her knowledge of how to plan an effective curriculum and how to support children's individual needs. She is supporting assistants to understand this also. For example, the childminder has been supporting assistants to understand how to adapt activities for different ages, when working with a mixed-age group, so that all children can be involved and learn at their own pace. The childminder demonstrates how she will engage with children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities, and take their needs and interests into consideration when planning for their learning. The childminder has an understanding of the skills children need to develop for their next stage in learning and how to support them to develop these skills.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder talks about how she works with other professionals to develop the setting. She uses feedback from these professionals to put plans in place to reorganise and enhance the learning environment. However, this is currently in the early stages of development. The childminder understands how to work with other professionals to close any gaps in children's learning. She demonstrates how she will work effectively with parents, giving daily feedback and supporting them to understand their children's developmental needs.
