Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder places a high value on partnership working with his co-childminder. This helps them to work as a team to support the needs of the children in their care. The childminder understands the importance of engaging with external professionals to secure the best outcomes for children and families. When needed, he explains how he seeks specialist advice and undertakes relevant training to maintain the knowledge and skills required to meet children's individual needs effectively. The childminder knows the strengths of his provision and understands the areas for development. He discusses how he uses this information to improve the quality of his practice.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder has positive relationships with parents and carers. He prioritises building a successful relationship with them. This helps the childminder and parents and carers to support children's overall development, particularly in areas such as behaviour management. The childminder explains he takes children out to visit amenities in the local community, such as local parks, playgroups and the library. The childminder describes how this helps him and children to form links with the wider community. The childminder explains how he develops his curriculum to respond to the needs of the children in attendance. He discusses how he does this by gathering information from the start about children's interests and what they already know. The childminder explains how he plans the daily routine in the best interests of all children, including those who are disadvantaged, with special educational needs and/or disabilities or face additional barriers
