p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder understands how to support the children in her care. She describes how she will carry out creative activities using resources, such as card, to make houses to create a small town. The childminder explains how she will take into consideration the needs of the children in her care. For example, she will find activities that benefit all children in order for them to bond. The childminder discusses previous activities involving moving a balloon with other parts of the body without kicking or holding the balloon. She explains this helps children who are quiet or more energetic to take part in the same game.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder understands the importance of healthy eating. She explains how she intends to provide healthy snacks and will make food items, such as fruit salad and healthy wraps, with children. The childminder describes how this will allow the children in her care to see how food is made and will encourage them to eat more healthily.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder has a wealth of experience in supporting children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). She explains how she will use this knowledge to support children that come into her setting. The childminder attends different courses to improve her knowledge of supporting children with SEND. She discusses how she will seek information that helps her in her role. For instance, the childminder will look at how other settings present information about the children in their care and adapt it to suit her setting.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder explains how she will identify children who might have barriers to their learning, especially disadvantaged children, those who are known to children's social care and those who may face barriers to their wellbeing. The childminder discusses how she will help to prepare children for their next stage of education, including school. Where appropriate, she explains she will put together activities to support any areas they need to develop. The childminder is aware of her own wellbeing and takes necessary steps to support this.

p.2

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder discusses how she engages with parents and carers, when they first come to her setting, to gather information about their children in order to fully support them. She explains she will speak to parents at the end of each day to give them a report about their child's day.
