p.1

This home is owned and managed by a private company. It is registered to care for one child who may experience social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There were no children living in the home at the time of the monitoring visit.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At a full inspection on the 10 and 11 December 2025, the home was judged as inadequate. Shortfalls were identified in safeguarding practice and the leadership and management of the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Due to significant shortfalls identified, on the 19 December 2025 compliance notices severed under Regulation 12, ‘The protection of children standard’, and Regulation 13, ‘The leadership and management standard’.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider failed to comply with the requirements set out in compliance notices issued following a monitoring visit on 2 February 2026. These compliance notices were reissued on 10 February 2026. A subsequent monitoring visit on 6 March 2026 found that the provider had still failed to meet the required standards.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The purpose of this visit was to monitor the actions taken by leaders and managers since the previous monitoring visit to address identified safeguarding shortfalls.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There has been no child living in the home since the full inspection. The home is currently without a registered manager. The previous manager was deemed unsuitable by Ofsted. Despite this, the individual remained employed by the organisation. The responsible individual reports that they are overseeing the home. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2817946 2 They are also currently managing another home which is operating is operating as an unregistered setting.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There have been improvements made in the home environment to make it more homely. New furnishings have been purchased, including new bedroom furniture for the child’s room.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have completed external safeguarding and PACE training, with some sessions specifically tailored to address the shortfalls identified at the inspection. This included training on managing allegations, risk assessments, safeguarding practice, and responding to children who go missing from care. Staff spoken with during the visit were able to identify learning from the training and demonstrated how this has been applied in their practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The home’s procedures in relation to children going missing from home, child protection and safeguarding have been reviewed and provide guidance to staff on the actions required following incidents, including allegations, physical interventions and missing episodes. However, not all staff spoken with had sufficient understanding of these procedures to keep children safe.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have not been provided with sufficient opportunities to develop the skills and knowledge required to undertake meaningful direct work with children. In addition, they have not been provided with the resources needed to support them in delivering purposeful and effective direct work.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff have been recruited to support the new staffing structure, which includes two deputy manager posts. However, concerns have been identified regarding the suitability of a newly recruited staff member due to safeguarding issues raised in their previous employment.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers do not ensure that all required recruitment checks are completed before staff begin working in the home. For example, discrepancies in employment histories are not consistently identified or explored. There are also concerns regarding the accuracy of reference verification records. Furthermore, some staff employed to work in the home are not complying with the conditions of their working visas.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The requirements raised at the last full inspection will remain in place and will be reviewed at the next inspection. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2817946 3
