Leadership and governance Expected standard
Those responsible for leadership and governance have a secure understanding of their statutory duties, including completing safeguarding and welfare audits. Leaders and staff undertake continued professional development, including through training. This helps everyone to understand how to interact effectively with children and plan and deliver a wealth of fun and enjoyable activities. Staff knowledge and training are current and leaders remain compliant with relevant legislation and guidance, including that which helps to keep children safe, healthy and protected. Leaders work extremely closely with the local authority and have utilised funding to increase their training budget and create the role of special educational needs coordinator, as part of their ongoing well-targeted improvement plans. Leaders understand how to place children's welfare at the centre of what they do, including by creating a safe, secure and inclusive environment. As part of this, they understand the

importance of gathering information from parents about children's individual needs, backgrounds, likes, dislikes and interests before they start. Leaders have experience of supporting disadvantaged children and those with special educational needs and/or disabilities in order to ensure inclusive practice for all children. This is something which leaders identify as one of their key strengths. They understand the importance of working in partnership with parents, school staff and other professionals, having regard for legal support plans and adapting provision. They have taken part in healthy holidays programmes, offering free holiday clubs with meals and activities for eligible children. As part of this, they have used funding to enrich children's experiences through visitors providing multi-sports activities and bush craft activities, for instance.

About this inspection
There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on the evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. Where there are no early years children present inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children in other evaluation areas.
p.3
About this inspection
