Summary of findings
There have been no families living at the centre since December 2025. Since the last full inspection, a new manager has been appointed and has registered with Ofsted. A new responsible individual is also in post, and a new, experienced assessing social worker has been commissioned. Leaders and managers have met all the requirements and recommendations raised at the last inspection. They have ensured that staff have received the necessary training to support future families. Although these skills have yet to be used directly with families at the centre, leaders have provided staff with learning and development opportunities and have tested their theoretical effectiveness in various ways.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and parents: good
No families have moved into the centre since the last inspection. One family has moved out.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and parents: good
The centre is well equipped, modern and spacious. The families’ bedrooms contain all the amenities they need to comfortably look after their babies. There are adequate communal spaces and a well-resourced playroom. The garden is a well- maintained and suitable space for babies and toddlers to play.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and parents: good
Admission paperwork completed before families move into the centre has been strengthened. Parents now carry out a self-assessment at the start of their time at the centre. This helps to identify support needs from the parents’ perspective early on, ensuring that they have an input into the help and support that they receive.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and parents: good
Leaders and managers have identified the support services available in the local area. Staff have carried out visits to these services, including the local children’s hub and support services for domestic violence and drugs and alcohol misuse. This has enabled staff to develop links with local services that may support parents staying at the centre.
p.2
Overall experiences and progress of children and parents: good
Leaders and managers understand the importance of gathering parents and families’ views and using this feedback to improve the service. Parents have access to feedback forms and suggestion boxes. When parents have requested resources such as additional toys and sensory items for babies, they have been purchased.
p.2
How well children and parents are helped and protected: good
Leaders and managers have made improvements to the admissions and initial suitability assessments of families. Despite no families having come to live at the centre, several families have been referred to the centre, with initial suitability assessments completed. The initial assessment of families is thorough and child focused throughout. Leaders and managers have considered all the information Inspection report for residential family centre: Lynn Haven Limited 3 available to them and requested further information before making decisions on suitability. When high risks have been identified, leaders and managers have put in place additional strategies and support to enable them to care for the family.

Leaders and managers have commissioned a new, experienced independent social worker. This social worker will carry out parental assessments using an assessment model that is in line with the centre’s statement of purpose.
p.3
How well children and parents are helped and protected: good
Staff receive training that equips them with the knowledge and skills necessary to carry out their roles. This increases the likelihood that the support offered to parents is in line with current health guidelines.
p.3
How well children and parents are helped and protected: good
Leaders and managers ensure that the forms and documents used for recording in the centre are appropriate and support staff to record accurately and comprehensively. Staff receive training and guidance in relation to recording and record-keeping in the home. Leaders and managers have further developed this by ensuring that staff undertake scenario-based exercises. These exercises include staff developing their skills in completing the relevant forms and demonstrating how they would manage certain incidents that may occur in the centre. Through these practice processes, staff have demonstrated their knowledge of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and when to step in and support parents and babies who are undergoing assessment.
