Managers regularly review and update risk assessments to reflect the child's changing needs and behaviours.

p.3

How well children and young people are helped and protected: good

Staff carry out room searches and welfare checks to reduce identified risks for the child. However, these measures have not always been carried out consistently in line with the child's plans and the home's procedures. As a result, opportunities to reduce potential risks have occasionally been missed.

p.4

How well children and young people are helped and protected: good

When the child becomes distressed, staff respond calmly and use effective de-escalation strategies. Staff take a therapeutic approach to help the child understand and manage emotions. Physical intervention is rare. When it is used, it is proportionate, appropriate and well recorded.

p.4

How well children and young people are helped and protected: good

Staff provide effective oversight during the child's free time, including regular welfare checks. The child also benefits from regular key-work sessions that explore topics relevant to their experiences, relationships, emotional wellbeing and safety. This helps the child to reflect on incidents and supports the child to make safer choices when in the community.
