The child has a high level of education attendance. This is supported by staff who understand that there were previous barriers to the child’s engagement with education. The staff have established a working relationship with the school that supports the child’s learning. This is a significant step from when the child first moved into the home.

p.3

Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good

Staff have regular spontaneous and planned discussions with the child. These are child focused and are tailored to the child’s needs. There is clear purpose to the discussions, which allows time for the child to reflect on things that have happened. Staff talk to the child about what support is available and can be used, both within the home and from external professionals.

p.3

How well children and young people are helped and protected: good

Staff have a clear understanding of the child’s risks and vulnerabilities and strive to keep them safe. Plans are updated to accurately reflect when the child’s identified risks increase or decrease. Staff are provided with strategies to use, which are adjusted as required. Inspection report for children’s home: 2711581 4 Staff work closely with external professionals to support the child. The manager and staff have good relationships with the child so that sensitive discussions can take place, for example about the dangers of substance misuse. This helps to inform and educate the child about how to keep safe, particularly when out in the community. This has led to a reduction in concerns and has resulted in a court restrictive order being removed.
