Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2819939 1 Registered provider: Sphere Care Solutions

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This home is owned and managed by a private company. It is registered to care for one child who may experience social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There were no children living in the home at the time of the monitoring visit.

p.1

This monitoring visit

At a full inspection on 1 and 2 April 2026, the home was judged ‘inadequate’. Shortfalls were identified in safeguarding practice and the leadership and management of the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Due to significant shortfalls in safeguarding practice in the home, Ofsted took the decision to suspend the registration of the home.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The purpose of this visit was to monitor the actions taken by leaders and managers following the significant shortfalls identified in safeguarding practice. Since the last inspection, a new manager has been appointed and has applied to register with Ofsted.

p.1

This monitoring visit

There have been some improvements made to the home environment. New furnishings have been purchased, and appropriate action has been taken to address most maintenance issues. There are still some outstanding maintenance issues and items that need to be removed to ensure the home is free from hazards.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Staff have benefited from external safeguarding training, some of which was specific to the shortfalls identified at the inspection. This included managing allegations, risk assessments, safeguarding and missing from care. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2819939 2 Most staff were able to identify learning they had taken from the training. They said it was the best training they had and they reflected on previous incidents in the home and lessons learned.

p.1

This monitoring visit

A new deputy manager has been recruited. However, they had a limited understanding of the shortfalls in safeguarding practice that were identified at the inspection. This is a concern as their role is to support other staff in their practice and provide advice and guidance.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Missing from home, child protection and safeguarding procedures have been reviewed and provide guidance to staff on what actions they need to take following incidents, including allegations, physical interventions and children going missing.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have not provided staff with opportunities to improve their skills and knowledge to carry out meaningful direct work with children. In addition, the manager has not provided staff with the resources needed to support them in carrying out purposeful and effective direct work with children.

p.2

This monitoring visit

A case review was held following this visit and it was deemed that sufficient action had not been taken to address all the shortfalls in safeguarding practice that had been previously identified. The suspension notice remains in place.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The requirements raised at the last full inspection remain in place and will be reviewed at the next inspection.
