p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders discuss how they have created a warm and welcoming setting that includes all children. They explain how they ensure that children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) or any barriers to their engagement are fully supported. Parents and carers are highly complimentary of the staff in the club. Leaders describe how staff have close partnerships with families. They explain how staff share valid information with school staff to aid a smooth transition. Leaders describe how there is an effective key-person system. They discuss how this ensures children know who to go to for support and helps staff to bridge the link between school and the club. Leaders demonstrate a positive understanding of the requirements to keep children safe and secure. They place a high importance on children's wellbeing and expectations. Leaders are committed to ensuring children feel happy, safe and enjoy their time at the club.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

They have a secure understanding of the club's strengths and areas for development. Leaders recognise that some activities could be enhanced more consistently to meet a high standard for all children, particularly for younger children. As a result, they discuss how they plan to prioritise training and professional development plans to develop these improvements. They explain this will ensure all children can access and benefit from high- quality experiences.

p.2

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders describe how staff have positive relationships with children and work well together as a team. They recognise this creates a relaxed environment for all children, particularly those with barriers to engagement, to feel confident to express their feelings and talk about their day. Leaders explain how they ensure staff provide meals and snacks that are healthy and nutritious. They explain how this ensures children develop an understanding of healthy eating. Leaders describe how staff promote this through food tasting sessions. However, leaders do not explain how handwashing routines are consistently embedded in practice. Furthermore, they do not demonstrate how staff support children to fully understand the importance of following these routines on every occasion before eating. Leaders ensure staff wellbeing and workload are a priority. They ensure staff are supported with regular team meetings or individual support to ensure staff benefit from their guidance.

About this inspection

We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

p.3

About this inspection

There were no early years children present at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
