Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders have established systems that support the smooth running of the club and the community it serves. They have a clear understanding of the children and families who attend and work closely with the host school to ensure that they promote shared values and an inclusive environment.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders and staff gather detailed information about children's individual needs during settling-in visits and in daily conversations with parents to ensure that appropriate support is put in place. They understand how to ensure that all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, settle easily, feel included and participate fully. Policies and procedures are specific and reviewed regularly. Recruitment processes are robust and all staff have a comprehensive induction, mandatory training, and opportunities for professional development through training and engagement, for example in a leaderships programme.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Staff wellbeing is prioritised. Regular meetings provide opportunities to discuss professional development, wellbeing, and staff interests. Staff report that they feel valued and supported, they understand their responsibilities and confidently maintain a safe, stimulating and well- organised environment.

p.2

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders and staff are reflective and have high expectations. They identify areas for development and implement changes, for example introducing 'conversation starters' at snack time to encourage discussion and participation. Leaders understand the value of promoting opportunities for children to think, listen, take turns and share their ideas, to encourage their enthusiasm, engagement and interests. Leaders recognise the importance of encouraging children to behave well, to help them develop a sense of belonging, good manners and positive attitudes towards others.
