Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders ensure there are clear policies and procedures in place to help staff keep children safe and engaged in a caring and friendly environment. Although there are currently no children in the early years age group, leaders regularly refresh their understanding of the requirements they need to follow should younger children join the club. For example, they describe how they plan to deploy named key persons to help support children.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Staff have a clear understanding of what they need to do if they have a concern about children's welfare. They confidently describe the procedures leaders have put in place to help protect children. Leaders build positive working relationships with staff in the host school, helping to ensure the 2-way communication remains effective. This helps staff support children's wellbeing and behaviour in a consistent and positive way. This includes sharing information relating to children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Leaders and staff have clear arrangements in place for communicating with parents. Leaders plan to ensure these are effectively used with parents of children in the early years, should they join the club.

p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

Leaders ensure there are sufficient numbers of staff to effectively supervise and facilitate play and activities, both inside and outside. This gives children the opportunity to choose where they would like to play, discover and relax. In turn, staff maintain a manageable workload. They regularly meet, sharing ideas about the sports and activities they provide. Leaders monitor staff performance effectively and provide regular training to help maintain the quality of the provision.
