Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders have created a welcoming and safe space, where children can enjoy a nutritious breakfast, time with their friends and outdoor play before they start their school day. Leaders understand this can help children be ready to learn and to enjoy school. It also helps children learn to make healthy choices around food and exercise. Staff demonstrate that they get to know children very well and understand their interests, personalities and individual needs. They are then able to make children feel welcome and at home. They show a clear understanding of the importance of being inclusive in their approach. Leaders explain how they work closely with leaders at the host school and parents to meet the needs of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities or those who may face other challenges. For example, staff are able to explain the role they play in helping children manage their own emotions so they can start the school day calmly and positively.

Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders have systems in place to ensure children are supervised closely to keep them safe, including when eating. They have in place robust procedures for risk assessment and safeguarding children. This adds to the sense of safety for children.
p.2
Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders routinely review the club and support staff. They make regular visits to the club to meet with staff and children and to ensure policies and procedures are being followed correctly. They put in place a programme of training for all staff to help them fulfil the requirements of their roles well. For example, they offer regular training on behaviour management and planning and delivering activities that children will enjoy and which will promote their overall development. As part of this process, staff are encouraged to give feedback and share their own learning needs.

About this inspection
There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment and any relevant documentation.
