p.1
Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children's home
The home is owned by a private company. It is registered to provide care for up to 2 children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children's home
At the time of the inspection, 2 children were living at the home. The inspector spoke to 2 children about their experiences of living at the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The monitoring visit was undertaken to explore specific concerns relating to the effectiveness of safer recruitment processes and the robustness of arrangements for identifying, assessing and managing risks between children. The visit focused on evaluating whether the provider had taken sufficient action to address these issues and ensure that children are safe.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers did not thoroughly assess all known risks and behaviours before children moved into the home. As a result, the suitability of the placements was not fully considered, including the impact on children already living in the home and the suitability of the home's location.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Not all children have individual or up-to-date risk assessments, and those that are in place do not provide clear or directive strategies to guide staff in managing and mitigating risk. As a result, staff do not have the information they need to safeguard children effectively.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Safer recruitment processes are not applied consistently. Managers do not always demonstrate professional curiosity when exploring gaps in employment or reasons for leaving previous roles, weakening the safeguards in place to protect children. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2829855 2 Staff respond to behavioural incidents and safety concerns. However, not all incidents are recorded, and some lack sufficient detail. Although managers review these incidents, they do not consistently identify gaps in staff practice, risk management or record-keeping. Additionally, when serious incidents have occurred, managers have failed to notify Ofsted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leadership and management oversight is weak. Managers do not have effective systems in place to monitor and review the quality of care. In the manager's absence, arrangements for leadership in the home are insufficient, resulting in gaps in oversight and inconsistent support for staff.
