This monitoring visit
The registered service manager has taken steps to update existing gaps in recruitment files for support staff. They have introduced appropriate safer recruitment practices for newly recruited support staff.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The quality of direct work and support for children continues to remain variable. This means that children's needs, risks and concerns identified in referrals are not consistently considered in children's support plans or accounted for in risk assessments and safety planning.

The content of support plans is general and does not reflect the previous risks and vulnerabilities of children from the referral stages, such as exploitation, risk of going missing, friendship circles, carrying weapons and online safety. As a result, relevant information is not used to inform the shaping of individual sessions between children and staff. Consequently, often, staff do not have accurate information to work with, which affects the effectiveness of their interventions with children.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The registered service manager has recently introduced a matching process so that the leaders and managers can consider the compatibility needs of all children, particularly those moving in. The new process considers children's levels of risk, the nature of support that can be provided, the skills of staff to respond to the needs of each child and their suitability for supported accommodation.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The extent of training offered to staff continues to be unclear. Leaders and managers say that training is available to all staff, for example, in responding to the complex needs of vulnerable children, reporting serious incidents and how to support and engage with children. However, some staff say that they have not received face-to-face training in 2 years.
p.2
