Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders demonstrate, through discussions, that the after-school club meets the statutory requirements of the early years foundation stage. They understand the setting's strengths and explain how they actively involve children in planning activities. Leaders discuss how they promote healthy eating through shared cooking experiences and foster positive relationships between children. They also describe how they create an environment that responds effectively to every child's needs. For example, leaders explain how staff use visuals and prompts to remind children of club's routines and rules. They recognise how this helps children to feel secure and confident in their surroundings.

Leadership and governance Expected standard
Leaders talk about how they maintain consistent communication with parents and carers and school staff to support smooth transitions and promote children's wellbeing, independence and confidence at every session. They demonstrate an effective understanding of children's individual needs, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Leaders describe how they gather detailed information during registration and work closely with the school. About this inspection
We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.

About this inspection
There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment, and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors only evaluate and grade leadership and governance as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess the impact on children of other evaluation areas.
