p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 3 and 4 February 2026. Following the full inspection, Ofsted took action to restrict accommodation at the children’s home, under section 22b of the Care Standards Act 2000. Three compliance notices were also issued, under section 22A of the Care Standards Act 2000. These related to regulation 6, the quality and purpose of care standard, regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this monitoring visit was to consider the action taken by the provider to act on the steps identified in the compliance notices.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the last inspection, the registered manager has resigned, however they have yet to submit their application to Ofsted to voluntarily cancel their registration. An interim manager is currently manging the home and recruitment is ongoing for a permanent manager.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Action has been taken to support staff to understand the child’s risks and vulnerabilities. Team meetings, supervision sessions and additional training are being used effectively to provide staff with the opportunity to reflect on the child’s progress. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 2848652 2 Risk management plans have been reviewed and now clearly outline all known risks for the child. They provide staff with detailed guidance on how to support the child and keep them safe. Staff demonstrated a strong understanding of how to respond effectively when a child is at risk.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There have been a small number of occasions when physical intervention has been necessary. Records of these incidents are detailed, and both the child and staff have had the opportunity to discuss the incident with someone independent. However, staff are not always offered an individual debrief, with some debriefs being completed as a group. This approach does not provide staff with a confidential space to reflect on the incident or explore their own emotional response.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Monitoring tools have been introduced to support the leadership team. Although these systems are not yet fully embedded in practice, managerial oversight has already begun to improve as a result.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Staff understand the child’s complex needs. All staff have now completed relevant training, including self-harm, substance misuse and the provider’s chosen behaviour management training. This has enabled staff to provide the child with consistent care.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have ensured that the environment has been improved. The home has been redecorated and new carpets fitted and new furnishings purchased. Hazardous items are now locked away, and rubbish has been disposed of.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following the monitoring visit, it was agreed at a case review that the provider has taken sufficient action to meet the steps in the compliance notices issued under regulation 6, the quality and purpose of care standard, and regulation 12, the protection of children standard, and regulation 13, the leadership and management standard
p.2
