Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2835212 1 Registered provider: Sanitas Cura Ltd

p.1

Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home is operated by a private provider. It provides care for one child who may experience social and emotional difficulties.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

The home registered with Ofsted in June 2025. The registered manager post is currently vacant.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

There was one child living in the home at the time of this visit.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This children’s home was judged inadequate at a full inspection on 21 and 22 January 2026. Inspectors identified significant shortfalls in the care and protection of children and the leadership and management of the home. As a result, compliance notices were issued under Section 22A of the Care Standards Act 2000, relating to regulation 12, the protection of children standard, regulation 13, the leadership and management standard, and regulation 32, fitness of workers. This monitoring visit took place to review the progress made in meeting the compliance notices.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The manager has strengthened their oversight of risk management plans. The child’s plans now accurately reflect their current level of risk and provide staff with clear actions to take to keep the child safe. Staff understand how to respond effectively when the child is at risk.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Staff regularly use physical holds to ensure the child’s safety. They demonstrate a clear understanding of when physical intervention is necessary and apply this proportionately. Following each incident, a member of staff speaks with the child to offer reassurance and to explore their views. Records contain most of the required information and provide a detailed account of the incident. However, occasionally, staff debriefs are not completed within regulatory timescales. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2835212 2 Staff understand the procedures to follow when the child goes missing from home. The child’s missing-from-care plan has been updated to reflect their daily routine and now contains accurate and practical strategies for staff to follow. Staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities should the child go missing.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The manager has strengthened their oversight of incident records. Regular audits ensure that written information is accurate and relevant to the child’s needs. When errors are identified, the manager provides staff with constructive feedback, enabling them to correct mistakes and improve the quality of future records. However, records relating to accidents or illness do not always confirm that medical treatment has been offered to the child when needed.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers are strengthening systems for the safe recruitment of staff. Senior managers have completed an audit of recruitment files and undertaken additional checks to ensure that all required information has been obtained. However, on one occasion, managers did not complete sufficient due diligence to confirm the reason an employee left a previous role working with children, as required by regulation.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The quality of supervision is improving. Staff receive regular supervision and find this helpful. However, records do not consistently demonstrate that staff are encouraged to reflect on their practice. This represents a missed opportunity for managers to support staff to consider the impact of the care they provide.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers now have effective oversight of staff training. The manager is updating the training programme to ensure that staff have the necessary skills to meet children’s needs. The new training system is beginning to be embedded in practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Staff understand the child’s complex needs. They have completed relevant training, including in self-harm, deprivation of liberty orders and missing-from-care procedures. Staff now have a better understanding of the parameters of the court orders guiding the child’s care and are developing greater insight into the child’s behaviours. The child is experiencing more consistent care.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The requirements raised at the inspection were not within the scope of this visit and will be considered at the next full inspection. The provider had taken sufficient action to meet the steps set out in the compliance notices.
