p.1

Leadership and governance Expected standard

The childminder demonstrates ongoing suitability to care for children and fosters their learning and development. She has a clear vision of her provision and speaks confidently about it. Through discussion, the childminder shows she understands the importance of providing high-quality education and care, and that she knows how to support all children effectively. The childminder has an adaptable and inclusive approach to engage all children in the curriculum. For example, she explains how she has created a 'touchy-feely exploration box' to support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities and/or other barriers to learning.

The childminder understands how to help children to develop a healthy lifestyle, such as through being physically active, healthy eating and regularly spending time outdoors. In addition, the childminder recognises that children benefit from going out. The childminder speaks about how she works alongside parents and other professionals. She understands the importance of working closely with them to support children's learning and development.
