p.1
Leadership and governance Expected standard
The childminder shows an understanding of how to reflect on her practice, using observation, assessment and regular review of records to identify areas for improvement. She understands the importance of engaging with parents and professionals to ensure children's needs are met, including children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. For example, she knows how to support children's communication and language development by using signing for nonverbal children and adapting activities to reinforce learning. She describes the importance of using children's interests to engage them and provide first-hand experiences, such as taking children who enjoy trains on the tube or to the transport museum to extend learning.
p.1

She knows how to use additional funding to enhance children's experiences and make adaptations to meet individual needs. The childminder understands how to create a safe, enabling environment, promote healthy lifestyles, support positive behaviour, and tailor care to each child's interests and development.

7 to 10
We carried out this inspection under sections 49 and 50 of the Childcare Act 2006 on the quality and standards of provision that is registered on the Early Years Register. The registered person must ensure that this provision complies with the statutory framework for children's learning, development and care, known as the early years foundation stage.
p.3
7 to 10
There were no early years children present and/or on roll at the time of this inspection. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with leaders and an inspection of the premises, equipment and any relevant documentation. When there are no early years children present, inspectors evaluate and grade only leadership and governance, as there is no reliable evidence from other evaluation areas through which to assess the impact on children.
