The service is owned and managed by a private provider. It offers 2 shared living premises that are limited to accommodating looked-after children or care leavers.

p.1

provider

At the time of this visit, the service was providing accommodation for 9 children aged 16 and 17 years.

p.1

provider

The provider and service manager registered with Ofsted in January 2025.

p.1

provider

This visit was announced on the day it took place. The inspector spoke with 3 children and visited one residence.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This visit was carried out to monitor compliance notices served following a previous monitoring visit on 3 February 2026, which identified serious shortfalls in leadership and management.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The visit focused on leaders’ and managers’ adherence to their statement of purpose in ensuring that arrangements are in place to manage referrals and admissions of children and ensuring that staff are suitably skilled and trained.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers have reviewed their statement of purpose and have strengthened their referral and matching process. The statement of purpose now fully reflects their processes.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers now take a more collaborative approach and ensure that decisions are not made in isolation and that they consult the network of professionals before accepting a referral. Leaders now meet with the child and their Inspection report for supported accommodation provider - monitoring visit: Beaufort Support Services social worker before offering a placement to ensure that all parties fully understand how the service will support the child.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers are proactive in engaging with professionals to ensure that they continue to meet children’s needs. Stability meetings are held promptly, and decisions are made to ensure that children receive the most appropriate support in a way that minimises disruption and provides for sensitive transition where this is required.

p.2

This monitoring visit

There have been no admissions since the previous monitoring visit. There have been 5 referrals, which have been declined. An improved referral and matching tool has been introduced, which includes a risk matrix and assessment of independence skills. However, it was not possible to fully review the impact of this tool, as no children have moved into the home since the previous monitoring visit. The tool has therefore not been fully embedded in practice.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Mandatory training compliance has significantly improved, and leaders and managers demonstrate good oversight of this. Training is now reviewed during monthly supervision sessions, and gaps are addressed quickly.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Leaders and managers support staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills to meet children’s needs. Additional specialised training has been identified and scheduled for the staff. Staff say the additional training opportunities are helpful in developing their skills.

p.2

This monitoring visit

Since the previous monitoring visit, staff training has focused on the topic of exploitation, as this has been a particularly significant concern for children. All team members have received exploitation training, and there has been a follow-up reflective session during a team meeting. Recommendation

 The registered person should only accept placements for children if they are satisfied that the service can respond effectively to their assessed needs as outlined in their relevant plans. In addition, the registered person should fully consider how the placement would affect the current group of children in that setting and vice versa. In particular, the provider should ensure that they have followed their own processes in making these decisions. (‘Guide to the Supported Accommodation Regulations, including Quality Standards’, page 17)
