Findings from the inspection
All previously raised requirements, except for one, have now been addressed. The outstanding requirement has therefore been restated.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
There is still work to be done to establish a consistent staff team. There has been no permanent manager in post, and there has also been a change of responsible individual since the last inspection. The deputy manager was supported by the leadership team to maintain the day ‑ to ‑ day operation of the home until the new manager started. Although no new children have been admitted since the last inspection, further work is needed to ensure that staff have the appropriate skills to meet children’s needs.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
Leaders and managers have strengthened their safe recruitment procedures. There is now a more robust approach in place to ensure that only suitable staff are appointed.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
The home is warm, welcoming and well maintained. The environment is clean and tidy throughout. The child’s bedroom is personalised to reflect their interests and offers them a comfortable space to enjoy. Staff support the child in keeping their bedroom clean and organised.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
The child is making good educational progress. Their school attendance has increased to over 90%, which is a significant improvement from their starting point. This progress has helped the child establish stability and routine in their life, contributing to them feeling safe and secure.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
Staff form good relationships with the child. The child can identify staff that they can talk to. This has helped to reduce the number of serious incidents.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
Staff have a good understanding of the child’s needs, wishes and feelings. They know the child’s likes and dislikes, interests and hobbies. Staff praise the child for good behaviour and use a system of rewards.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
The child takes part in a wide range of activities. For example, they get to go to the cinema and to visit local attractions, as well as shopping and cooking and baking with the staff. The child has fun and values their time at the home.
p.3
Findings from the inspection
The child does not go missing from the home. Staff have a robust safety plan in place if the child was to go missing. Assurance inspection report for children’s home: 2786434 4 Staff have access to a wide range of training opportunities, including specialist courses. Staff competency tests are now being used alongside reflective learning discussions in team meetings and supervision sessions. These approaches are helping to strengthen the team’s ability to embed learning into practice.
p.3
